Mission Statement: The Chantry High school strives to build an informed sustainable learning community taking responsibility for its own future. It will integrate high standard of achievement and behaviour with goals of healthy living, environmental awareness, community involvement and local and global citizenship. It will consider its development as a commitment to care- for oneself, others and for the environment. At the Chantry we are currently working towards a sustainability award. We have already set up a council, and have the Worcestershire 'Eco school quiz' champions under our belt. Sustainability is split up into nine main doorways
- Food and drink
- Transport and travel
- Energy and water
- Buildings and grounds
- Purchasing and waste
- Local wellbeing
- Inclusion and participation
- Global Dimensions
Currently the Chantry have our bronze Eco Schools award and we are so confident that we will get it, we have skipped the silver and our going straight for gold. Well by winning this they were put through to the West Midlands finals which was to be held in February. This was unfortunately cancelled due to the extremely heavy snow that day (hint hint, cough cough), and was rescheduled for March. Now on 26th March the West Midland finals were staged at the university of Warwickshire, the Chantry was up against thousands of other schools (or maybe just two). "We were fully prepared for battle, we even had two backup students in case somebody broke their finger whilst writing or broke their back whilst declining into their chair. We had an almighty mascot, (Whinney The Pooh) and two jet lagged (and slightly deaf) teachers who had driven eight very loud students all the way from Worcester to Warwick. The stage was set for a brilliant quiz and a quick game of Guitar hero before entering the quiz hall eased our nerves (and got us more competitive). we walked out of the hall that day victorious, proud and very hungry."
