GCSE Geology is run by Mr R Allison and is offered to Year 9 pupils who wish to complete a GCSE in the subject. An optional AS level course is also available.
"When I first started the Geology course I was expecting to be looking at rocks through microscopes. Well that is what we did, for a couple of lessons anyway, but after that you found that such a small subject required a lot of knowledge. For example if you gave me a rock now I could tell you, the age of it, the family it came from, it's life story. I could tell you where it came from, how it was formed and what rock it is. I can now explan distaster and the plate techtonic theory. My Maths has improved, my Geography has rocketed, as now I can prove my work with geological evidence. And my science has gone through the roof as now I can explain the way the World ticks. Overall the course has developed my skills by a long way. I am no longer worried about my minerals and my plate techtonics, but more about my test..." By Dominic Buxton 8COTS
