The subject leader of Science is Mr D Howard who mainly teaches Physics. Other techers in this subject include: Mrs H Stack, Mr B Simpson, Mrs J Wallis, Dr R Newton and Mr M Barratt who teaches a small number of groups. Recently the Science department have had many of their rooms renovated, and are now really new and colourful. Science in KS3 and KS4 are very much linked with Maths; this means that when you are put into sets (a group with the same ability as you), the two subjects will be closely linked.
"Science at The Chantry is really fun and interesting, when I came to the Chantry, I didn't know one element from another. In the first month of High School, I knew how to conduct a Practical Safely and use a Ph Scale. This year, I have learned how to set up and use and Ammeter, a Voltmeter, a Circuit Breaker and many other electrical components in a circuit. In Year 6, I was a Level 5 science student, now that I am Year 8, I have leaned more about Physics, Chemistry and Biology than in my entire time at primary school. I am now level 7; that's 6 fine levels higher!" Samuel Barnett - 8 Cotswold. In  Key Stage 3 at the Chantry, science lessons start off moderatly easy, this make the transition between Primary School and Secondary School easier. Units include: Chemical Reactions, The Reproductive System, Adaption to Environments, Energy and Electrical Circuits. Throughtout the year, there are minor unit tests, these are only to see how the pupils is understanding the work given. More importantly, there are tests covering 2 or 3 units, these are designed to enable the teachers to understand gaps in teaching and learning in the class, these results are given to Parents through 'Progress Checks' Key Stage 4 at the Chantry is a lot different to Key Stage 3, for example, in Year 10, students have their science GCSE's. Also it is non-stop learning and very tiring. In Year 11 lessons turn from learning to revision. And again, Year 11 pupils have more GCES's, but at a higher level. Year 10 and 11 GCSE are very impotant and are important in furture life. As a precaution, there are mock exams towards the beginning of the year, in case students are ill or off school, they have something to fall back on.
