The Friends of The Chantry is a partnership between parents and staff and has become a key contributor to making The Chantry a pleasurable and inclusive social environment for pupils, parents and teachers alike.  All parents are welcome to join us at Friends meetings. There are no subscriptions.  There are a number of social and school events during the year aimed both to be enjoyable and to raise funds for our school. However, The Friends do not just arrange refreshments and organise fund raising activities - although these are two very important activities that Friends currently provide.  At our meetings, which usually last between one and one and a half hours, we have lively debates about current school issues and it’s important that we have a say on what happens to our children at Chantry High School. We even ask members of staff to attend who can provide information that we feel is important.  The calendar of events offers parents the opportunity to enjoy being part of the school community while supporting fund raising to enable their children to enjoy the benefits of the products and facilities provided by fund raising. Events are extremely well supported as they provide food old-fashioned fun while raising funds to support projects that your school would like to put in place.  Additional pairs of hands (not to mention grey matter) are always welcome. If you are able to help, but unable to attend meetings, please let us know as help and support are always required at events and functions. We would very much like to have representatives from all year groups to help spread the word regarding our activities.   The Friends Committee:                    Chairman: Mr Darren Reynolds (Deputy Head)                                                           Secretary: Mrs Jill Cartwright                                                                                                         Treasurer: Mrs Rachel Welch                                                            200 Club:   Mrs Karin Logan Officers are nominated and elected at the AGM normally held in October of each year. Meetings:                                          Â
About 6-8 times per year. Usually on the first Tuesday of the month – but see list of dates further down this page.  Time & Venue:                                  Â
7.30pm in the Staff Common Room. The association was formed when the school opened in 1963 and has, since then, raised well over £55,000 towards school projects, such as music/drama rooms and more recently a new minibus and a number of mountain bikes. Currently, our main project is to raise funds to assist in the refurbishment of the school hall and concourse area which will benefit all students, parents and staff. The hall requires a complete overhaul, including a new floor, lighting and sound systems, staging and window dressing. The Friends will be consulted in all aspects of this refurbishment.
We hope that you will receive flyers via your child/children, or you may have heard about forthcoming events from your friends and we very much hope that you will be able to support these events.Â
